New Meetup: Trip Report: UK Genealogy Show & Catch Up

Announcing a new Meetup for The Irish / British Genealogy Group!

What: Trip Report: UK Genealogy Show & Catch Up

When: Sunday, March 21,[masked]:00 PM

Where: (A location has not been chosen yet.)

Hi Group!

I'm just back from the Who Do You Think You Are? / Family History Show that was held in the UK and have collected some good info both by the way of materials (books, CDs) and sessions I'd like to share. I will be sourcing a private meeting space so it makes it conducive to sharing updates as well as I will be hosting a selection of light fare. Focus for the next meetup I'll start with a trip report highlighting:

- DNA testing - the growing phenomenon in genealogy research;
- Tips for research in Ireland
- Show guide and session content and format (in case there are those interested in 2011!)
- New materials that I've brought that I'd like to share with the group:
a. Book: My Ancestor was a Railway Worker
b. Book: A Dictionary of Old Trades, Titles and Occupations
c. Book: First Name Variants
d. Book: Family Photographs & How to Date Them
e. Maps: London Street Map (1891) and London (1920)
f. Booklet: Tracing Your Ancestors in Ireland
g. CD: Irish and British Titles Catalogues
h. Magazines: Family History (3 Editions)
i. Booklet: Devon Record Office Info
j. Booklet: Greater London Cemeteries & Crematoria
k. CD: Indexes to Irish Wills[masked]
l. CD: The Agricultural Labourer, 1893
m. A collection of other flyers

PLUS all the other materials I have indicated in a past board post.

SO...hopefully the date works for a number of you. Bring your laptops and if anyone has an aircard I'm more than happy to make my laptop and access to available to group members on this day. Dare I say a genealogy party??? For a bit of fun I will do a draw for a little "prize" as a takeway for one member. The odds I warrant will be good!

Look forward to seeing you again / meeting you. A location will be confirmed in the next few days but will be in the midtown area.

Until then, happy researching!
