What You'll Learn

The web is built on three core technologies: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. You use HTML to create the content of your web pages. You use CSS to create the look and feel, the design of your web pages. You use JavaScript to make your pages interactive. All three are important and have their part.

The most powerful of these technologies is JavaScript. Unfortunately, it's also the most difficult. In this Crash Course, our Front End instructor Eric Sowell ( will introduce you to JavaScript, showing you how variables and functions work, how to respond to events on the page, and how to do some basic page manipulation. He'll also show you some working examples of more advanced JavaScript to whet your appetite and show you some resources to help you learn further.

For this Crash Course, we'll assume that you've at least seen a little HTML and CSS. If you aren't familiar with them, I recommend taking a look at Khan Academy's free HTML and CSS course:

What do I need to bring?

Yourself & a laptop. Pizza & drinks will be provided.

Thank you to our kind sponsor, Improving ( for hosting us!
