Free Crash Course - .NET on a Mac

Join our .NET Instructor, Mark Dewey (https://www.meetup.com/The-Iron-Yard-Tampa-Bay/members/211900929/), for a crash course into using .NET Core on a Mac and learn more about the Back End Engineering course. Holly Valenty (https://www.meetup.com/The-Iron-Yard-Tampa-Bay/members/215169340/), our Student Enrollment Representative, will also be on campus to help you learn more about The Iron Yard (http://www.theironyard.com/).

The .NET world has a lot to offer, from pure functional languages, to a miraculous data query language, to a rich developer environment. Until recently, the power of .NET was almost exclusive to Windows, until Microsoft released its cross platform stack .NET Core. In July of 2016, .NET Core hit 1.0 and is now a real option for developers and companies.

Outcomes

We will cover, (at a fast pace) what is .NET Core and then using Visual Studio Code, we will create a simple Entity Framework Based ASP.NET Web App using a Mac.

Requirements

• Laptop that is WiFi capable. Laptops are required to complete the course. However, if you do not have one and would simply like to attend as an observer, you're certainly welcomed to sign up and you'll still learn a lot! We will be using a Mac for demonstration, but a Mac is not required.

• Visual Studio Code and .NET Core Installed
