"I went for a relaxing holiday and couldn’t sleep due to the pumping dance music coming from somewhere outside my hotel, perhaps within the hotel, I wasn't sure. I was tired, and too tired to find out where the sound was coming from, so I tried to sleep but was still awake several hours later, constantly thinking “how selfish people were”. I looked out the window to see where the sound was coming from and saw someone with a sound system in the garden square in front of my hotel. Furious, I considered saying something... or calling someone! Then I remembered what I had learned about the power of making peace with the situation - and realised I had been resisting the situation for the last three hours and nothing had happened. So I relaxed by pausing, taking some deep breaths and realising the guy was just trying to enjoy himself, he was doing the best he can, it was only one night my sleep was disturbed, I normally sleep so well, perhaps I was supposed to be awake right now, etc… I started looking for the good in where I was. And then an interesting thing happened. After just a few minutes the guy (who couldn't see me) moved across to his music player, switched it off, picked it up and left the square. Coincidence? Maybe so, but after three hours of non-stop music, within three minutes of shifting my focus and relaxing, and even feeling more kindly towards him, he moved. I went back to bed and in moments was asleep. A great reminder in how to deal with unwanted situations!"
