Meet up and chat about Django

Seeing as this went to well last time, it'd be nice to try and make this into a much more regular event. There's obviously quite a lot interest out there. Was great to see so many people along!

I've booked the Shooting Star for the 21st of August. We had a conflict with the Python meetup group last time (unfortunately), so the 3rd Tuesday of the month hopefully avoids that. It also means we don't clash with Djugl who are holding a more formal event on the 1st.

We have the function room downstairs this time, so it might be good to try and do some lightning talks. We can see how that goes, keeping this group as mostly just a pub meet up is probably best.

Glad so many made it again, and enjoyed it. About the talks, I agree they'd be good. It seems we're getting regular turnout, and the space we have is good for a presentation. Also got a few people offering to do something, so lets do some lightning talks at the next event. We'll kick that off at 7pm, but keep it very brief - 5 minutes per speaker, and a max of 4 per night. That should be enough to kick off some discussion, but not distract people from their beer.

I really enjoyed the informal atmosphere.
The group of people was very helpful and informative, and there was a nice vibe in the air. Thanks to an open wifi I was also able to show an impromptu demo of the, showing the technology we are using, based on geodjango (more info about the tecnology here:

Very nice and very productive, so 5 stars.

Agree with the others - talks / structure would be good.

Nice but I wish there was a slightly more formal setup, e.g. some small demo of someone who's setup a site in django, what issues they faced, tools they found useful. I realize it's tough for organisers to do that so I'd be happy to pay a participation for that.

Only thing that was missing was a few talks/a strong django focus for a little bit. Otherwise great people and great banter!

We're booked with a function room. It has a bar and fits up to 100 people, so we'll be fine.

41 people RSVP'd yes. Do the Shooting Star know what is going to hit them?
