Friday Afternoon Stroll: Vauxhall to Battersea power station (Circus West)
Now that the weather is a bit cooler, I am resuming the Friday afternoon strolls with a walk from Vauxhall to Circus West Village at Battersea power station. Along the way we will see some of the new developments at Nine Elms including the new American Embassy. There are a couple of diversions from the Thames Path but the second one takes us close to the back of Battersea power station, giving an excellent view of the work going on. We will finish at Circus West Village, the first phase of the Battersea power station development, where new shops, bars and restaurants are now opening. As the walk is short at just under 2 miles, I will offer the option of walking up to the Peace Pagoda in Battersea Park, returning to Circus West for a drink in the new No. 29 bar. There is a free shuttle bus service from Circus West to Vauxhall, Pimlico and Victoria. The meeting point is outside Pret a Manger by Vauxhall Bridge and St George’s Wharf. We will leave promptly at 1.30pm and there is a £2 Meetup fee. Please wear suitable footwear and bring a bottle of water.

What we're about

NEW AND RE-VISITING MEMBERS - at the moment I (Alison) am not able to lead walks following medical advice. I hope to be back again in a few months and in the meantime Peter T will continue to put on walks as and when time allows. Thank you for your patience and hope to see you again later this year.

This group is for people who would like to take a gentle stroll in and around London. Walks will be of no more than 5 miles, and with no pressure to take a particular pace - if you want to stop we can stop, if you want to take it slower we can.

This might be particularly suitable for people who are just starting out on a fitness regime, those recovering from illness or injury, but really it is for anyone who wants to take life gently!

I aim to put on one walk per month, more if I can manage it, and other organizers help out and lead walks for the Group from time to time so please remember to check who is leading the walk you are interested in.

When possible we'll stop for a break at a pub or cafe (or a maybe a picnic in the summer). As well as the walk itself, there'll be a chance to socialise with other walkers and get a chance to see a different part of London, or the surrounding counties.

There's a £2 per person organizer fee, payable on the day for each walk - this helps me pay my regular fees to Meetup.com to keep the group going, and cover event organizer expenses.

Visit our photos section to see some pictures from our walks so far. I look forward to seeing you soon.
