What we're about

Hello and welcome to Los Angeles' largest and longest-running English Meetup!

My name is Signe, and I've been teaching English as a second language for more than twenty years.

If you'd like to practice what you've learned in your English class, then this is the group for you. The Los Angeles ESL Conversation Group's goal is to help you feel more comfortable speaking in English when you're out in the real world.

As someone who has studied in another country, I know what it's like to live in an unfamiliar place and not know anyone.

With the LA ESL Conversation Group, you'll have fun and make new friends in the process!

We have free weekly conversation meetings every Tuesday and Saturday for all levels. We also have ESL classes for intermediate to advanced students every Wednesday night.

Make sure to add the Meetup app to your phone to get alerts if there are any changes to the schedule.

If you would like to know more about me and my classes, please check out http://www.eslclick.com/ .

**Native English speakers: You are welcome to join, but you need to contact me before you sign up for your first meeting. You can click the link for more details:

Please note: Members are allowed three no-shows before being removed from the group. If you don't want to be removed, just cancel your RSVP if you can't come to a meeting.

Thanks and we look forward to meeting you soon!

Let's Have Fun Studying English!

La Brea / 6th

$10.00

Welcome to my class! If you are an intermediate to advanced English learner, and you're looking for a course that takes you to the next step in speaking English, then this is for you! My goal is to help you feel comfortable speaking with others. In my class, we review some basic English grammar while learning new vocabulary - including slang - and understanding American culture. We'll also work on pronunciation, and there will be opportunities to practice what we discussed by asking and answering comprehension questions with your classmates. And if there's time, we'll play a game to reinforce what you just learned! You don't need to prepare anything. Plus, you will be provided with all the materials you need (although it would be a good idea to bring a pen and a notebook). And don't worry about missing a lesson. We work on a new topic every week! I look forward to seeing you at our next class!

Hike and Practice English at Runyon Canyon!

Runyon Canyon Park

If you'd like an opportunity to practice your English and get some exercise, then join us for a free weekly hike up Runyon Canyon! We'll walk up to where you can see beautiful views of Downtown Los Angeles and the Hollywood Sign. This is a moderate hike, so if you're a beginner, it might be a little difficult. And if you're an experienced hiker, it should be fairly easy. *And don't worry about needing to stop to take a break. I won't leave you behind. You should wear workout clothes and hiking boots or sneakers with a good tread. I also recommend wearing a hat and sunscreen. Yes, you can take pictures, but please wait until we get to the top so we don't keep people waiting. If you forget to bring water, there are water fountains on the way. I don't recommend bringing small children although some people do take their kids with them. I'll be bringing my dog, Perl, who is small and very friendly. Please try to get there by 8:45 because we will start at exactly 9am. The hike should take about an hour or an hour and a half, depending on how long we stay at the top. Because parking is difficult in this neighborhood, I suggest you take a Lyft or Uber. Native English speakers: You are more than welcome to come, but please only speak English since this is for members to practice their second language. You can always meet members outside of the meetings and speak whatever you'd like. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. : ) I look forward to hiking with you soon!
