What to expect
Note: Based on the unexpectedly large number of people signed up there is a good chance we'll be done with this invasive plant removal sooner than expected. When we are done, we'll explore this beautiful park!
We will:
Meet at 10 am in the parking lot at Derby Reach Regional Park in Langley BC. There is a possibility we will be given a short tour of the area. It is the "birth place" of BC, so there is interesting history. One group of around 5-10 will head down to location 1 (a 2 minute drive from the parking lot we are meeting in). At this spot there is lamium. Lamium is a trailing evergreen perennial groundcover and is very aggressive. It spreads by vegetative runners over other native plants smothering them. The second group will head to location 2 ( a 2 minute drive from the parking lot we are meeting in). This group will be removing: ivy, blackberry and spurge daphne. Volunteer until 1 pm (with breaks and refreshments of course) We will meet back at the parking lot we originally met, at 1pm. Head across the street to a section of the Fort to Fort trail, have a picnic lunch (please bring a packed lunch). After lunch we are going to do part of the Fort to Fort trail along the Fraser River. Very beautiful area!
