MEETING INSTRUCTIONS

We are meeting on Shoreline trail, behind the rotary SK8 park (which is between 2902 and 2920 Murray Street, Port Moody)

GETTING THERE:

Please reduce your ecological footprint by using:

• Transit. To find out the best route click: http://www.translink.bc.ca
• Your bicycle. For a bicycle map: http://www.translink.ca/en/Getting-Around/Cycling/Cycling-Maps.aspx)
• Carpool. Leave a message at the bottom of this page if you need a ride. Please chip in for gas ($5 for every hour of drive)
• Walk if you live nearby

YOUR DUTIES

• Remove invasive plant species (the compete with native plants)
• Plant native trees
• Carry tools and supplies to the site to and from the meeting spot
• Use hand tools safely and responsibly, and return them

FLOW OF ACTIVITY

• Meet at 9.45am (please don't be late)
• Sign in on your phone or our tablet (if you haven't yet, please don't forget to fill out the volunteer registration form: http://goo.gl/WRx6jr to save time on the day)
• Walk to Site (follow arrows if you're late)
• Receive instruction and demo on how to remove invasive plants effectively and plant native trees
• Remove invasive plants and plant
• Take a break (yummy refreshments time!) around 11.30am
• Volunteer until 1pm
• Sign out on your phone or our tablet

WHAT TO BRING

• Refillable water bottle
• Rain jacket in case it rains
• If it's sunny bring a hat and sunscreen
• Your own gardening gloves and pruners if you prefer them (we provide them otherwise)
• Wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty
• Long sleeves and long pants to protect you from thorny plants and ticks
• Sturdy, comfortable closed toe shoes/boots, or gum boots

WHAT WILL BE PROVIDED TO YOU:

• Training will be provided on the day (no experience necessary!)
• Gardening gloves
• Tools (e.g. pruners and loppers)
• Refreshments (often juices, fruits, veggies, energy bars and cookies)
• A small thank you gift at the end, often donated by a business

WHAT HAPPENS AFTERWARDS?

• A survey sent to you
• A volunteer letter emailed on request
