New Meetup: "Dinner & A Movie" Potluck on Monday, March 29 at Wussow Chiropractic

From: David

Announcing a new Meetup for The Madison Raw Food Meetup Group!

What: "Dinner & A Movie" Potluck on Monday, March 29

When: Monday, March 29, 2010, from 5:30 to 9 PM

Where: Wussow Chiropractic on Old Sauk Road in Middleton

We will again be enjoying the use of the space at Wussow Chiropractic for our third monthly "Dinner & A Movie" Film Night & Raw Potluck on Monday, March 29, from 5:30 until 9 PM.

We will be screening the movie ?The Shift? featuring Wayne Dyer. While not a food-oriented movie per se, it explores many of the quality of life issues our members often explore and discuss when we get together.

Please RSVP as you normally would via this Meetup description. Depending on the combined response of both groups, we may need to limit the number of those who RSVP and attend. Currently we will have up to 20 spots available for our group, with 10 available for Dr. Brian's group. There will be an automatic waiting list set up for those who RSVP after the initial 20 who respond. If closer to the time we see that we will be able to accommodate more attendees from our group, then we will raise the number of those who can RSVP. Check back here on the description for this Meetup for the latest details regarding these limitations to group size.

I also ask that everyone be very conscientious about their RSVP'ing. If you have planned to come but find that you won't be able to join us after all, please update your RSVP accordingly, so that others who may be on the waiting list will be able to join us.

This again will be an outreach opportunity for our group to interact with those from Dr. Brian?s group who may be interested in exploring the world of raw foods. I would suggest bringing either regular raw potluck fare and/or raw movie snacks. His clients who join us will be encouraged to bring healthy snacks, but they may not necessarily be raw.

Here is more information about the The Shift:

Running time: 121 minutes

The Shift website:

Synopsis: ?In this compelling film, Dr. Wayne W. Dyer explores the spiritual journey from ambition to meaning. The powerful shift from the ego constructs we are taught early in life by parents and society - which promote an emphasis on achievement and accumulation - are shown in contrast to a life of meaning, focused on serving and giving back. Through the intertwined stories of an overachieving businessman, a mother of two seeking her own expression in the world, and a director trying to make a name for himself, this entertaining film not only inspires, but also teaches us how to create a life of meaning and purpose.?

Otherwise our usual potluck guidelines will apply:

First off, we very much want to welcome our new members and those curious about the raw and living foods lifestyle. We encourage you to bring something very simple - some fresh, organic seasonal fruit, some cut up organic veggies, or some raw trail mix you can put together, for example. (If you need more ideas, contact David by using the ?email me? link on the left side of web page.) More information for newcomers to our group can be found here:

For each person attending bring one dish with at least eight servings to share, along with the appropriate serving utensils. One can reasonably expect this to cost somewhere around $15.00.

Please bring all of your own silverware, dishes, and cups that you will be using.

Please use organic ingredients whenever possible to prepare your dish, for increased nutrition, elimination of pesticides and genetically modified foods, and most importantly for your body and for the planet!

If dehydrating or warming your food, please do so at or below 105 degrees to ensure that the enzymes of the food remain intact and active.

Bring a copy of your recipe to place by your dish, so that others can copy it if they like what they tasted, and also so they can be able to make informed choices, should they not want to eat certain ingredients due to sensitivities or other personal reasons (such as nuts or Bragg's Liquid, for example). We will then post a message on the Madison Raw Food Meetup website where everyone can respond to and add their recipes for each particular potluck to share them with others.

At the end of previous potlucks we often exchange our leftovers. Bring some extra containers if you want to join in on the fun.

Voluntary donations towards the costs of using our Meetup web presence ($144 annually) are greatly appreciated. It was suggested by our members that we should consider donating a dollar or two every potluck, which would quickly help us meet our costs.

Unfortunately I won?t be able to join you, but Dr. Brian is a most capable host and will take good care of you in my absence!

Have fun!
