This morning we enjoyed seeing the features of a retrofit house in Ivanhoe
and a coffee afterwards at the café at Ceres. A few people must have slept
in, but hopefully they managed to see the house later in the day. If so,
please message and let me know and I will change your status for the
activity. The weather and the company were great. In fact I would have said
that the company was the highlight and that I always learn more from what
our members have to say than the activity itself.
It would be nice to mix up some of the activities and locations. I'm very
grateful to Samantha for our regular activity of "Sustainability Drinks"and
to Vikki for the film nights she hosts and to Rob and Ingrid and Pam for
sticking their necks out and putting events on the calendar. If anyone else
is interested in becoming an organiser please let me know and I will update
your membership so that you can schedule and host meetups for the group.
This will give us a greater variety and number of activities, otherwise most
events will end up being my taste. The only thing I ask is that you think
about how people will find you on the day, which will be extrememely tricky
if you don't have a recognisable meetup headshot..
So if you have an idea for an activity, either float it on the website or
message me directly and I will respond within 48 hours and upgrade you to an
organiser so that you can fine-tune the details. I have ideas for groups
within the group, but we still need to grow a bit more before we can
implement anything. Theoretically we have almost 150 members who all want
to make a difference and Global Coolers isn't even a year old yet, so that's
pretty amazing, but the most we have ever had in one spot is 13 and that was
for brunch...although it's not all about numbers. If an event has 3 people
at it and they all enjoy it, then I would say that's a success.
It was great meeting new and old members today and last night. Happy spring
planting to anyone who is fortunate enough to have a garden plot.
