The Melodeers Chorus is an award-winning chorus consisting of women who love to sing, dance, learn, and compete regionally and internationally. We are a member of the Sweet Adelines International organization and our Chapter consists of 100+ members of all ages from across the Midwest. We are a 501(c)3, non-profit charitable organization, supporting women around the world.
We sing acapella (without instruments) in the barbershop style. What is barbershop? It’s a 4-part harmony sung by the lead, harmonized with the tenors above, the bass below, and the baritones completing the chord. When these 4 parts come together to ring a chord, the sound is special and inspires all of us.
The Melodeers are committed to the highest level of performance and we are a 7-time international championship chorus. Competing on stage is an amazing experience and binds friendships forever. We are an organization that supports, helps, and encourages each other regularly. We love to learn our music and the choreography that binds it all together.
In addition to performing in competitions, the Melodeers typically put on a show each year and perform via small groups within the community. We have internationally renowned coaches who come to work with us and complement the expertise of our Master Director 700, Jim Arns. Our Assistant Director, Renee Porzel, is known worldwide for her beautiful choreography.
Come visit one of our rehearsals! Guests and prospective members are always welcome. The Melodeers have singers who have a lot of experience as well as members who grew up just loving to sing and never performed on a riser!
If you enjoy singing, you owe it to yourself to check us out. Our doors are always open, so take a chance and come see our fun, passion, and musical excellence showcased each Wednesday. Be a part of the friendship and fellowship that serves as the foundation for our group. We would love to welcome you with open arms!
