I started this group because I found that a mindful practice and mindful attitudes helped me with every aspect of my life. I am a licensed mental health provider (LPC) and am trained in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). There are already many fine groups offering meditation and spiritual exploration. This group is different as it is secular in nature and primarily focused on bringing the MBSR trainings into everyday life. Our focus is on formal practices such as meditation and yoga, informal practices such as integrating MBSR principles, personal growth, mindful eating, and social action. The purpose of the group is to offer educational sessions, support groups, practice groups and informal gatherings for like-minded individuals. This group is intended for both beginners and seasoned practitioners, for both secular and religious practitioners, and for anyone interested in learning more about a mindful lifestyle.
Let's meet and discuss mindful eating, do a brief meditation and share a meal together in mindful silence.
Please RSVP and comment on which location and if you prefer weekday or weekend lunch.
#1 Meet in the park and bring a bag lunch.
#2 Meet in a conference room and bring a bag lunch, probably need a $5 donation for the space.
#3 Meet in a restaurant with a private dining room. (Ideas for a space, particularly a restaurant that serves local, organic choices???)
