Easy Brewery Early Dinner Hike! - Perkiomen Trail 2.5 mi to Appilachian Brewery!
NOTICE TIME CHANGE! Because of a change of ABC’s hours, the meetup time of the hike is changing from 2PM to 3PM. This means, as winter approaches, it will be getting dark during the journey home. Should be no problem. The trail is clear, and we can always wear headlamps. This trail follows the Perkiomen Creek. A nice flat course with a view of the creek part the way. This hike is another "there and back". We will go south for 2.5 miles, stop at the Appilachian Brewery for an early dinner (and maybe a beer) then head back. Allow 2-3 hours, depending on how long you feel like hiking (and eating!). This is a scenic and easy hike with an occasional very small hill. The trail is a mix of gravel and paved, so sneakers or hiking shoes should be fine. You may want to bring water, snacks, camera, bug spray, a hat if it's sunny or a rain hat if it's not , and of course, a friend . . . This will be a joint hike with the Harry's Happy Hikers Group. Finding the trailhead is easiest when you picture it's location (the green arrow) relative to the highways. GPS Coordinates[masked], [masked] Look for a Dark Green Audi tt with a roof rack. HINTS to make SHORT HIKES in the COLD ENJOYABLE WEAR LAYERS - It may feel frigid at the trailhead, but just 10 minutes of walking and your body will start to generate heat, after which you may be too warm and want to remove layers. Layering is the key, but layers or no layers, always remember to AVOID COTTON! Especially in socks! Once wet, cotton no longer insulates you from the cold and it wicks heat away from your body. - A base layer wicks moisture off your body (Remember, NO COTTON!!!) - A warm jacket is necessary for insulation and warmth - A light shell stops the wind from penetrating your core - Good hiking socks will do wonders to keep your feet dry and warm Other suggestions include: - Hat - Gloves - Extra Socks (if you should step in a puddle) - Scarf - Hiking Poles / Over-the-shoe traction devices - if it might be slippery WATER/SNACKS/FOOD - Although you may be hiking to a restaurant, the body is much more comfortable if it's had a little fuel. Hope to see you there!!! Try to arrive by 1:45 PM. We will leave promptly at 2:00PM. If you get lost or lonely, call Ben at[masked]. Adverse weather conditions may cause hike leader to cancel hike. No member of the group EXCEPT YOURSELF can be held responsible for any damages, accidents, or liabilities incurred while hiking with us.

What we're about

We are a group of nature enthusiasts that enjoys all the great outdoors that the Montgomery County, Bucks County, and the surrounding area have to offer. Hiking is our primary activity, but we also enjoy kayaking, dog walks and social gatherings.

As a courtesy to members and guides, when you request to join the group, please write a few lines about yourself and why you want to join us. This will also serve as an introduction to the group and will be temporarily posted on our home page.

We are a welcoming group but we do have a few principles we follow to keep everyone safe and comfortable. Please read more about our group by clicking on the Pages tab above before joining.

When on an outing in the woods, or water, or the likes, I prefer to have participants sign a waiver and include an emergency contact. We have already had a mishap on one hike, and needed to call someone, just better safe then sorry! You can read the waiver in the files section.

We also do not charge for activities, and I believe that the purpose of meetup is to meet others with similar interests, not profit off the site.

Thanks, and hope to see many members out there having fun and making new friends.
