Discussion Dinner - What's happening with the Skeptics movement?"
Details
What is happening to the Skeptics movement? When we started New York City Skeptics 10 years ago we were full of optimism. The movement was growing, we had a number of skeptics organizations, like the JREF and CFI, all working together towards a common goal. Now we have CFI merging with the Dawkins foundation, an event that has caused a lot of controversy, the JREF is not as active as it used to be, and other controversies like the one illustrated by “The Conceptual Penis Hoax (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3AgAuz0wY7g&t=1s) “ panel at our recent NECSS (http://necss.com/) conference. Perhaps more importantly though, there no longer seems to be the energy there was 10 years ago.
So, what can we do about this? Let’s discuss it at our usual Italian restaurant.
NOTE: We ask that, as a courtesy, members who RSVP and decide later not to attend please change their RSVPs to no at least 48 hours before the event.
