What we're about

Public Group

The purpose of this meetup group is to create a lively international social gathering for free flowing casual conversations in English. It is a good place to meet new people from different cultures, to make friends, and to have fun communicating in English. We do not have any set topics for discussion. Come along and talk about anything you want with people having similar interests.

Whether you are a native English speaker or not, so long as you have a basic conversational ability in English, you will enjoy the casual conversations at our meetup events.

You are welcome to exchange contact details (business card, Facebook, and so on) with people that you meet. Many people who meet at our events end up developing lasting friendships!

We look forward to meeting you!

On the day of a meetup event

Each meetup event is generally scheduled for three hours, including about ten minutes of clearing up the room at the end. Usually, each event is open to RSVP from two weeks prior to up until one hour before the event. We urge you to keep your RSVP up-to-date so that anyone in the waiting list can get a chance if you are unable attend an event.

You are free to come and leave any time during an event but please notify us if you are going to be late.

Unless otherwise stated, on arrival you are required to register your name and pay a JPY 100 attendance fee. Please bring your own drink. Some light snacks will be provided.

If you are new to the meetup and hesitant about starting a conversation, do not worry: there are others in the same boat as you. Just join in and you will get to know new people in no time.

What this meetup is not about

Please note that this meetup group is neither a language school nor is it affiliated to any. Please do not use our meetup events as a platform for advertising language teaching/learning or any other products or services.

Although we encourage you to have any casual conversation about any topic, please be considerate towards other people. You are advised to avoid profanity, stirring up differences based on race, gender, religion and politics, or doing anything else that can be seen as disrespectful to others.
