New Meetup: Williamsburg Book Club

Announcing a new Meetup for The New Williamsburg Book Club!

What: Williamsburg Book Club

When: Saturday, April 17,[masked]:00 PM

Where:
Bob & Lisa Pike
118 Shore Drive
Williamsburg, VA 23185
[masked]

We had 11 participants at last night's meeting, and had a good discussion of "The Sun Also Rises". The group seemed to agree that although it was not necessarily a book for us, it definitely had features of interest.

We also had two new members join us last night, Jessica and Carol - welcome! It was great to meet you and we hope you'll be back as often as possible!

Our next meeting is Sat., April 17 at 7 p.m. We'll be discussing a legal/crime fiction by Scott Turow, "Personal Injuries". Those of us who have already begun to read it had good things to say, so come join in the discussion and get to know some folks, too!

We've also set the date for our May meeting (Sat., May 15) and, as previously mentioned, we plan to discuss "The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay", a work of modern fiction by Michael Chabon. Please mark your calendar!

Lastly, the group picked our June selection (no date yet, but probably the 12th or 19th - stay tuned). We're going to discuss a work of sci fi, "Gone to Gonega" by our very own member, Brenda Lee Renwick! This is only available online, although she plays to donate a copy to the library soon. Online, it appears to be selling well - Amazon.com currently has one copy left at the moment, and Barnes and Noble has none. I bought a copy today from PublishAmerica.com, so I suggest trying there first. Brenda describes the book as sci fi with comedy, and says strangers as well and acquaintances have given it good reviews, so we're looking forward to reading and discussing this, and you should look into obtaining a copy (maybe sooner rather than later?) if you might be attending in June.
