This past weekend Leslie hosted a seed exchange. We had a great turnout with over 20 people and many members attended. Lots of people brought extra seeds and everyone left with something new to plant.
I saved all the extra seed packets for our next meetup and decided to use some of them to add a little color to my own little corner of Crown Heights.
Recently, the city created large tree beds, added tree's and then added beautiful wrought-iron guards around each tree bed in my 'nabe. For some reason, the tree beds attract a lot of garbage. I figure that if the beds have flowers, ANY flowers, people might not throw garbage in them.
During the recent rain storm, I planted lots of seeds that were leftover from the Seed Exchange: Morning Glory, Gomphrena, Hollyhock, Purple Cornflower and anything else. I know that Morning glory chokes everything but I figure some color is better than garbage. Stay tuned for pics and a big THANK YOU to everyone who contributed Seeds during the exchange (especially the big bag of morning glory).
