Please tell us why you like Chicago history

It has shaped all of us, and we continue to shape it! For a relatively young city, Chicago has grown up so quickly. It's fascinating to trace her evolution over (/interaction with) time, both via historical records and direct observation of physical evidence in the form of architecture, neighborhood boundaries, roads etc. What has been left to fall apart is just as noteworthy to me as that which is meticulously preserved, or being newly developed.

Having grown up in Little Italy & attended school much further south, the North Side seemed rather foreign to me! Moved up here for grad school & I look forward to getting to know the area my Volga German grandparents started their American life in.
