The Outdoor AND Culture Club

Greetings culinary adventurers! This Saturday we'll be experiencing an exciting restaurant with middle eastern flair at Zarak by Afghan Kitchen! It has been quite some time since I hosted an Afghan dinner on my Meetup group so I thought it would be time for us to reconnect with one of the most storied countries in the world through cuisine! While alcoholic beverages are served at Zarak, the menu items are all Halal. One of the things that most people are unaware of is that while Afghanistan is a country, it is made up for many different regions and within those regions are numerous different ethnic groups. This makes for an incredibly diverse cuisine across the entire country, and dishes such as palaw may be commonplace in most kitchens while there are delicacies such as ghorbandi which are more regional. I myself have dined here previously with another Meetup friend so I can attest to it's flavourful cuisine. Since I was stranded in Victoria and unable to host a Christmas dinner for 2024, I would like to invite everyone out to enjoy this evening. Unfortunately, I have to make the reservation with my credit card so I will be selecting those who have a history of attending my events. Not to worry though, I plan on hosting regularly now that I have returned to Vancouver!

I have had many new members recently and many of those have asked questions regarding my ethnic dinners. Please understand that there is no fee to attend any of my ethnic dinners. You are solely responsible for covering the entire cost of your order, and if you wish to share with others you can feel free to do so. We are here to enjoy these experiences and turn strangers into friends, please be respectful towards everyone. If you fail to attend without leaving me notice it is disrespectful to me, the remainder of the group and the restaurant therefore I will ban you from the group entirely.

Greetings culinary adventurers! I'm planning a Momo Festival dinner! Momo is an ethnic delicacy originating from Tibet, which spread throughout regions in Nepal, India and Bhutan. Similar to dumplings, they are generally steamed although there are variations which may be deep fried, pan fried or baked. The contents of a momo can be both vegetarian or meat based, with different seasonings depending on the vision of the chef. Some of the meats found in the momo can be yak, chicken, pork and lamb. Some of the vegetarian options include cabbage, leek, carrot and potato. I'm happy to bring the first ever Momo Festival here on Meetup, so naturally I would host this celebration at a momo themed restaurant, Momo Factory! If you have never had a momo before, this is your chance to experience this lovely dish from an intriguing part of the world! If you have never experienced any of my previous ethnic celebrations, here is your chance!
