Perseid Meteor Shower Hike at Eagle Rock!

Details
This should be our BEST YEAR EVER for watching the Perseid Meteor Shower because we'll be further from the city lights than on our past such events and there will be NO MOON this night. The hike itself will be an out-and-back on the Eagle Springs Fire Road. We'll park our bods on the massive Eagle Rock, where there is LOTS of room to hang out and check out the sky. (Can you see the people on the top in this picture?)

Sunset is at 7:43 pm and it will be quite dark by 8:30, so bring a flashlight or headlamp! There is no official ending time because some people may want to stay longer than others.
Distance: 4 miles
Elevation Gain: 850'
Difficulty: Strong beginners should be ok.
Restrooms: Yes, and water too at the trailhead.
Parking: Free. DO NOT PARK INSIDE AT THE PAID LOT or you'll get a ticket. See directions below.
Dogs: Not allowed on State Park trails.
Directions: Take Topanga Canyon from the 101 toward the ocean for about 7 miles and you will see a sign on the right marking the entrance, turn left into Entrada. From PCH take Topanga Canyon north for roughly 5 miles and turn right into Entrada. Stay on Entrada for about a mile. The park entrance is clearly marked, but the Rangers are now ticketing people after dark!! Therefore, park for free along Entrada before you enter, even if you have to drive up above the park entrance to find a spot. Watch carefully for signs that restrict this free parking! Carpooling is HIGHLY recommended. Use the comments section to advertise your carpool needs, but do NOT post your phone number there or the spammers will get it and torment you. Use meetup private messaging to exchange info like that.
Known Dangers include rattlesnakes, slip-'n-fall, and please be careful on Eagle Rock itself. DO NOT get close to the edge at the top.
