What we're about

The Pluckin' Strummers - A Los Angeles Ukulele Club, welcomes players of all skill levels to join in on the fun of playing and singing in a group. The club prides itself on being a teaching club that caters to all skill levels. Established in December of 2010 the Pluckin' Strummers have proven to be a mainstay in the ukulele community here in Los Angeles.
Please visit our website; pluckinstrummers.wordpress.com, where you'll find a list of required song books along with a few recommended ones.
We use the Jumpin’ Jim Beloff series of song books. The first one is yellow, and titled; The Daily Ukulele - 365 Songs For Better Living. The second book is blue, and titled; The Daily Ukulele - Leap Year Edition - 366 Songs For Better Living.

The first visit to our club is always free and when returning we ask for a $10 donation per meeting to cover expenses including administrative, printing, and our fabulous location. Couples that come get a small discount which is $15 for both per meeting. Also those that sign up the prior meeting to bring snacks don't need to pay for that meeting.
We feel that with consistent attendance along with regular individual practice our members' playing and singing skills will improve tremendously.
We meet on the second and fourth Saturday of every month with a standardized format of two 50 minute playing sessions separated by a short break for refreshments and great conversation.
In July 2017 we added a free group lesson session prior to the start of our meeting. We begin at 9am and end at 9:45 to give us 15 minutes to set up before the main meeting. We ask those participating in the 45 minute lesson session to bring their questions and any related materials needed to help improve their knowledge and playing abilities. When there aren't specific questions we will cover materials related to the upcoming meeting.
Our regular meeting begins at 10am. The first 50 minutes of material is geared toward newer players with a quick lesson session to help improve playing skills and music knowledge. The second 50 minute session consists of progressively more challenging songs but always with a consideration for the newer players.
Lastly, each meeting ends with 20 minutes or so of performance time. This is our members time to shine. Members are encouraged to share a song and the more they perform the better they become.
"Uke" can do it! Come join us for some Pluckin', a Strummin', and singing fun!
