Finding Poetry

Details

Summer is on its way out and we're falling into autumn, so time to change up our poetry, too. We'll start out the meeting talking about publishing opportunities and local readings that are taking place in the upcoming month. After that, the floor will be open to poets who would like to read their work, with optional critiques from their fellow poets.

If you'd like to read at the meeting, please bring 1 poem. Also, if you'd like feedback on your poem, please feel free to bring printed copies for other members to write out their thoughts during your reading, so they can give it back to you after our group discussion.

Readings may be limited, based on the number of poets attending and time constraints, so RSVP early if you'd like to read. Ed and I plan on bringing light refreshments - coffee and perhaps something to nibble on - to give us all energy for Saturday morning.

We have optional poetry homework - again, this is optional for anyone interested in participating and completely NOT required to do. Our theme this time around goes hand-in-hand with our submission opportunity this month. Our journal this month that we'll all try to be submitting to after this meeting is Unlost Journal - http://unlostjournal.com/ - they publish "found" poetry, poetry composed of writing that is found on the street, in an advertisement, on a menu. More info about this type of poetry can be "found" on their website - so push the boundaries and have fun!

We look forward to seeing all of you in August.
