Your elevator speech is essential to successful networking, to getting that next job, or the next sale. As business professionals, we all know who we are and what makes us unique, right? Then why is it so hard to tell people in 30 seconds or less?
One of the reasons we aren't successful with our speeches is lack of practice. So in our next SBR and we're going to work on our Elevator speeches. Hint: Who you are, what you do, what makes you special (unique, different, interesting), and what you want, are the key ingredients.
If at all possible, write out your speech ahead of the meeting so you can get maximum time for feedback from your peers.
Example: "Hi, I'm John Smith with Smith Woodworking. I make furniture and I specialize in children's bedrooms. I work a lot with young parents who want a healthy environment for their children and a real wood experience. If you know anyone with young children I'd love it if you would tell them about me."
Please join us for a fast paced chance to practice. Due to the holiday, this is the only SBR in May. The SBR is at the PW Chamber office in Gainesville. Free to attend even if you are not a Chamber member, please register as space is limited, and as always, feel free to bring your lunch.
