SC Human Trafficking Awareness Day

We will observe SC Human Trafficking Awareness Day on January 15 at the SC Statehouse. We have reserved the downstairs lobby for a media conference, open to the public, scheduled for 11:30 am. We would like this to be a living history event, to celebrate SC Act 258 and it's place in history to end slavery and involuntary servitude and prevent it from arising again. We would like a Town Crier to circle the Statehouse ringing out the good news and announcing the media conference. At the end of the media / public event, we would like all bells to ring out across Columbia, and if possible across the State. We need volunteers to help put the event together with Catherine and me, and to be there to guide the public and make the ringing of the bells happen. Will you join us?

Hi Betty and Catherine, Although I am not really educated on Human Trafficking. I would like to know where I can go and read about the new law as well as get information on this cause. It is truely a remarkable thing you are doing and would love to help out if anyway possible.

Hi Cindy, It is wonderful to know you are interested in learning more. There are many wonderful resources online where you can educate yourself on the issues at hand. If you Google: SC ACT 258 Human Trafficking you will get the scstatehouse file on the act. Also, Rescue & Restore A Human Trafficking Awareness Initiative and the National Human Trafficking Resource Center (NHTRC) and Polaris Project will keep you busy for days and hours with great information. In SC, and specifically in Greenville for volunteering contact Stephanie who is a co-organizer and she has some outstanding volunteer opportunities going on. Jan 15 we'd love to have you participate at the Statehouse HT observance day. Also, check out Soroptimist grants - visit our website atgrams.html - deadlines are only days away for young women 14-17 and a couple weeks away for women in need and women helping women. We look forward to answering any questions you may have on any of the above. Cat

Happy happy News fellow Advocates! We found a recording of the real Liberty Bell - the amazing thing is there are two recordings!! One ringing without the crack & one ringing with the crack.
We need your help! It is really simple.
Anyone who would like to help us with bell ringing statewide, all you need do is request a copy of the recording I'm making.
It will be a looped recording of up to five minutes with the two bells ringing singlely, then alternately together. They sound incredible.
So grab your iPads, smartphones, laptops, computers, DVD/CD players and whatever else you can play a mp3 on - email and share with your friends, coworkers, churches, bellchoirs, businesses, firehouses EVERYONE who wants to see an END to MODERN DAY SLAVERY... Then: JANUARY 15 at NOON - LET FREEDOM RING ACROSS SOUTH CAROLINA! (between 12:00-12:05) Sound your choice to take a stand and STOP Trafficking in our state. If you can Video a group Ringing the Bells of Freedom! and share the video here!
