Update: The weather looks great. See you there!
Let's try this again and this time we'll invite the sun to come out and play with us. Lighthouse Field has picnic tables right across from Its Beach. Its Beach (also known as dog beach) is adjacent to, on the northwest side, of the lighthouse on Westcliff Dr. There is only one set of stairs to get to the beach. If you stand at the top of the stairs, with your back to the ocean, and cross the street you will walk straight into the picnic tables where we will gather for a delicious organic vegan potluck. Please bring ice coolers to keep the food fresh if needed.
The field, the park, and the beach offer a variety of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Feel free to bring paddle balls, hula hoops, frisbees, beach chairs, etc. Dogs are welcome. The signs say dogs must be on-leash, however you will find many a dog off-leash. If anyone has a portable vegan grill and/or umbrella to bring, all the better.
There are walking/hiking trails, water fountains, and restroom facilities at Lighthouse Field. There are parking lots along Westcliff Dr. and surrounding streets offer parking as well. Please pay attention to the parking signs re: length of time you can park there. The park/field/beach/parking lots close when it gets dark.
The weather can change with little warning, so best to be prepared for warm or chilly weather. Planning outside events can be risky since we may be affected by unpredictable weather conditions. We'll update this event description the day of the event to indicate either that the event is still on or that it is cancelled due to weather.
