SEATTLE OPERA BEGINS ANEW! With the grand opening of the Seattle Opera’s new home, the Opera Center, and its search for a new general director, the Pacific Northwest’s premier opera company has an opportunity to reinvent itself. There is no better time for opera lovers in the Emerald City and beyond to reconnect with this respected institution, and with the extraordinary art form that is opera.
WHO WE ARE. The Seattle Opera Meetup (S.O.M.) will bring people together: those who enjoy opera, and those who are curious about it and want to expand their horizons with a friendly group.
WHAT WE’LL DO. We will watch two operas a year - one in the fall, the other in the spring. These Meetups will include dinner in Lower Queen Anne and/or the free pre-show lectures. Both will be scheduled on a Saturday night.
GATHERING IN "OUR 'HOOD". In between opera nights we will have socials availing of the wealth of cultural and culinary offerings near the Seattle Center.
WHO CAN APPLY. Anyone with an interest in opera or a curiosity about it.
NO MEMBERSHIP FEES OR DUES. S.O.M. will not charge any dues or fees, but we will expect all members to contribute in some way. Please apply only if you have the time to occasionally attend and have a desire to make new friends. We will welcome members' suggestions for opera-related events or anything that will bring people together in the Seattle Center.
LINKING UP. Some of our events will be co-hosted with THE SEATTLE 40-SOMETHINGS MEETUP.
LIMITED CAPACITY. Membership will be capped at fifty. Due to our limited capacity, it's only fair that we remove those who do not occasionally attend so that others have a chance to be part of our community.
WASHINGTON STATE RESIDENTS ONLY. Unfortunately, we can only accommodate residents of the state.
Let’s enjoy this extraordinary art form and meet great people along the way!
