Details
Hey Security of Things MeetUp members! Our next MeetUp is happening on Tuesday, August 22nd at the usual location: AKAMAI Headquarters, 150 Broadway in Kendall Square, Cambridge.
As always, we gather at 6:00 with the agenda getting under way at around 6:30. The full agenda will be forthcoming. We look forward to seeing you there!
We have a busy agenda this month. To start off, Paul and Jen Ellis (@infosecjen (https://www.twitter.com/infosecjen)), the Vice President of Community and Public Affairs at Rapid7 will provide a brief recap and update from the Black Hat Briefings, B-Sides Vegas and DEFCON conferences in Las Vegas.
Our guest speaker this week is Rob Black, CISSP (https://www.linkedin.com/in/blackrob?lipi=urn%3Ali%3Apage%3Ad_flagship3_profile_view_base%3Bh47CqWzkRlqQZ9Ngt8xDBw%3D%3D) who will be speaking to us about building defensible IoT security architecture. If you're someone who is concerned about cybersecurity for your IoT project or interested in building in security from the ground up, this talk is for you.
Rob is the founder of Fractional CISO (https://fractionalciso.com/) and former Senior Director of Product Management at PTC's ThingWorx division. He will provide a vendor neutral view of what you need for your IoT security architecture from an experienced IoT practitioner.
Topics include:
• Practical ways to use today's technology to secure the device
• What third party tools use and apply security throughout the application stack
You will walk away with existing methodologies and tools that can be applied right away to mitigate today's security challenges.
