Managing Reactions - How to be Proactive
Details
“Between stimulus and response, man has the freedom to choose."
Being proactive as defined by Stephen Covey in "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" is not what most people think of as being proactive.
What he means is the opposite of being REactive: that thing we all do automatically all the time in response to everything going on around us.
Self-aware beings can examine their reactions and actions and choose to consciously behave differently.
How do we do that?
This is the major topic of the second chapter of the book: "Habit 1: Be Proactive."
Let's discuss.
It is not necessary to have read this chapter to be part of the discussion, but it is helpful.
