Vulnerability to Trust - The Foundation For Better Relationships

Details
Whether in a team or with co-workers, with a friend or lover, with your partner or children, vulnerability is a key element to creating trust.
If I can overcome my fear and open up and show you something about myself that I wouldn't normally share, then you can feel safer to do the same. I'm taking a risk and this creates an opening for you to also take a risk.
By honoring this vulnerability without judgement, a deeper level of trust is created which allows the relationship to open and strengthen.
Trust is fundamental to all types of relationships.
What is your experience with this?
Stephen Covey doesn't discuss vulnerability in "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" as this is a concept that was not in vogue at the time (in business settings). But he does talk a lot about trust, particularly in the context of building better and deeper relationships which are a key concept in the second half of the book: Habits 4-7
