What we're about

Welcome to the Signal Hill Hiking Club!! I invite everyone to come join us...... from the newbie to the seasoned pro...BUT...this is NOT a hike for absolute beginners that cannot hike at an intermediate pace!!!

Let's get out and put some miles on the hiking boots that have been collecting dust!! Interested in hiking mid-week after work?? Are you interested using Signal Hill as natures gym?? I have scheduled twice weekly intermediate hike on Tues/Thurs evenings up Signal Hill. This is a great cardio workout with stairs and some STEEP hills to challenge you and shock your system into burning more fat and calories. Please include photo on your profile......so we can recognize you. :-) Happy Trails!! Robin

6 mile - Signal Hill Evening Hike

Nu Image Now Wellness Center

Enjoy the AMAZING Views!! NOT A BEGINNER HIKE!!!! If you are a beginner please plan on getting into condition before joining our group, or plan for being left behind. Come join us as we climb up and over and all around Signal Hill. WE LEAVE AT 6:30 SHARP. Plan to be there a few minutes early. ATTN: PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN THE NU IMAGE / ARKRAFT PARKING LOT. YOU WILL BE TOWED!!! Park on the street or in the other parking lots up the street. The majority of the route is on pavement and asphalt, but we do hike one dirt trail. Shoes with good traction are recommended. Jeans are NOT recommended. This is not a "stroll"...we HIKE...so plan for moving and sweating. We meet at the corner of Redondo Ave and Hill St in Signal Hill. Park on the street. We start by climbing Hill Street (the "decider"!), and head over the hill to Stanley, Cherry Ave, Skyline Dr and all points in between. The hike is about 6 miles long and takes about an 1 3/4 - 2 hours to complete. Well behaved and well socialized dogs (must be on a leash) are always welcome too. This is NOT a beginner hike and we go at an intermediate to fast pace. This is not necessarily a difficult hike but the pace and the hills classify this as intermediate. Sometimes we will have slower paced people so you can join us at risk that the majority of the group will leave you behind. The route is tricky and you WILL get lost if you cannot keep up. ALL HIKERS HIKE WITH US AT THEIR OWN RISK OF GETTING LOST IF THEY CANNOT KEEP UP! I (Robin) lead most nights, but you can also look for regulars to lead some nights as well. Shoot me an email if there are any questions. OCC Symphony Concert - Computer games

Robert B. Moore Theater Orange Coast College

The picture I have attached here is with our full orchestra at rehearsal with the video games being shown overhead! Even though this is not a "hiking" event, many have asked in the past to be notified of any of my upcoming concerts so here you go. :-) My next concert is Saturday, March 2nd, at 7:30pm, at the usual venue of the Robert B. Moore theater on the campus of OCC. For those of you who don't know, or remember, I play clarinet in the OCC Symphony Orchestra, and we have performances 4 times a year. For this performance, the OCC Symphony with Maestro Maxim Kuzin will be presenting a mixed program of pop songs and video game music, a trend that the orchestra very successfully started last year with the full concert of the video game music that witnessed the largest audience of the entire last season! We continue our collaboration with the UCLA Game Music Ensemble and their leader Jose Daniel Ruiz who will join us for this program. This concert will also feature OCC vocal professor Anne Walsh with her students singing popular songs as well as an assortment of music written for video games. Whether you are a song-lover or a video game fan, you will find this concert a rare chance to hear the music you truly love and enjoy. I know you would enjoy this UNIQUE concert, so I hope you can join us. Tickets are only $15, or $10 for Seniors or Students (with student ID), and parking is free! Thanks for your continued interest and support! :-) Robin ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SATURDAY March 2nd, 2019 | 7:30pm | Robert B.
