What we're about

PLEASE NOTE THAT DUE TO THE CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK, ALL UPCOMING SWG MEETINGS IN PERSON ARE CANCELLED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

This is the Meet Up page of The Singapore Writers' Group.

We also have a website at http://www.singaporewritersgroup.com .

If you're already stuck into a manuscript, poem, short story, script or narrative non-fiction piece - sign up for $80 yearly membership and come along to one of our regular critique groups. You'll also get your own private log in to the website with access to courses, talks and workshop information. You will also have the opportunity to publish a short story in one of our yearly anthologies.

We also run a (free) social and networking meeting once a month (generally the first Tuesday of the month) where you can meet other writers, budding writers, hit the open mic if you dare and find out more info about the SWG.

Look forward to seeing you soon!

Poetry Meetup

Location visible to members

THIS IS AN ONLINE EVENT Hello and welcome to the poetry group. An email will be sent out to attending members to share their poems in advance. This will give everyone time to think over the poems before the meetup. Please send me a private message with your email address if you are attending. ATTENDANCE: There are two poetry meetings per month. In order to allow other members a chance to participate, please join only one meeting per month. SUBMISSIONS: If you wish to submit short poems, I.e haikus, you can submit up to 3. If you wish to submit more than one mid to long poem, then please place the primary poem at the start. We will go over everyone’s primary poem and move on to the secondary poems if we have time. In the meeting we will read out our poems and constructively critique each work for its strengths and weaknesses. MEMBERSHIP: If you are new to The Singapore Writer’s Meetup, then come along for a free session and try out one of our genre groups. The membership fee and all other relevant information can be found on the official website: http://www.singaporewritersgroup.com

Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Romance Critique Group

Online event

THIS IS AN ONLINE EVENT For instructions on how to join a Zoom Meeting - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hIkCmbvAHQQ Details of the meeting will be sent to participants. You must have a microphone on your computer, webcam with audio is preferable but optional. Putting faces to names and socializing online is an important part of both the meetup process and the feedback process. Thank you. Hi! We’re the Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Romance critique group! We meet once a month for super fun round table group critiques of each other's short stories and novel excerpts. General Group Notes: - Try to keep submissions around 2,000 words. Longer pieces are fine, but please highlight specific passages for those who don’t have time to read the whole submission. - Please read and review all the submissions before the meetup. - Uploads are due the Monday before the meeting. For New Members: - As per the SWG rules, new members may attend a meeting for free to try things out. After that you’ll have to formally join and pay group fees. - File sharing and non-meeting discussion happens in a private Slack group which you can join once you’re a member. - If you’d like to check out our group, please contact Simon for the monthly reading list or for any questions. You’re also welcome to come to the SWG Social Meet Ups (first Thurs of every month). There’s usually at least one SciFi/Fantasy/Romance member there to represent. Happy writing and see you soon!
