Join us for the next Stephen King Book Club read of The Dark Tower:
THE GUNSLINGER. What's that? Am I hearing shrieks of joy, or
moans of dread? Yes, I know- the magnum opus, first book of
The Dark Tower series, what King himself has called his life's work.
This is the series that is referenced in other books we have read, like The
Stand, It, Hearts of Atlantis, and others.
The Gunslinger is fantasy, science fiction, horror, and western, inspired by Robert Browning's poem "Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came (1855).
First published in 1982 and then re-issued in 2003 after some revisions.
The book follows The Gunslinger, Roland of Gilead, as he seeks to catch the man in black, whom he calls Walter, on his journey to a place called The Dark Tower. The main story takes place in a world somewhat similar to the Old West but in an alternate universe.
I hope to see you next month! I'll send the link before our meeting.
