Re: [rawfood-42] The biggest cause of global warming isn't what you may think.

This is very true.  I did about six months of in-depth scholarly research on this issue, and promptly became a near-vegan, eating only organic cheese and eggs from local farmers on rare occasions.  It would be extremely self-defeating to be a meat-eating environmentalist.  My favorite comparison is that a bike-riding meat eater contributes more greenhouse-gases than a hummer-driving vegitarian!

This was posted on Matt Amsden's online newsletter. Matt Amsden is the author of RAWvolution. It is a great uncook book if you haven't seen it yet. He also has a restaurant in Santa Monica, CA.

Dear Friends,

This past November, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization issued a report stating that the livestock business generates more greenhouse gas emissions than all forms of transportation combined!

That's right- the most inconvenient truth of all is that raising animals for meat contributes more to global warming than all vehicles combined.

It turns out eating meat is worse for the environment than driving an SUV! Another good reason (as if you needed another) to eat living foods. Good for you, good for other animals, good for Mother Earth.

...Sounds good to me...

Love Matt & RAWvolution
