What we're about

This meetup is about the Internet-of-Things (IoT) wireless network called "The Things Network" (TTN). It is based on LoRaWAN technology. The key characteristics that define this network are:

• open-source

• crowd-sourced

• low-power and long-range (think miles of range for battery-operated sensors nodes)

• low-cost

It was started in by a small group in Amsterdam, Netherlands, but it's taking the world by the storm. Now, there are over 5000 members in many cities and communities worldwide. This wireless network, comprised of small and inexpensive gateways, helps local communities and businesses solve their unique local problems or improve quality of life by applying the latest IoT technologies.

The solid foundations, like the cloud network, have been created by early members, but we need to build the local wireless infrastructure, so we all can benefit.

This meetup is for IoT technology and business enthusiasts. Let's get creative, let's strategize, let's learn, let's build something awesome. Join us! (https://www.thethingsnetwork.org/community/dallas/)

Note: This meeting was previously called "Internet of Things (IoT) Prototyping". We, the Organizers, have decided to update it in order to give it more focus on community-friendly The Things Network.
