Apart from being the textbook that Kant used for Metaphysics, Baumgarten's Metaphysics is a fascinating work in its own right.

The text is divided into four major sections: Ontology, Cosmology, Psychology, and Natural Theology. Fun for the whole family! These divisions should be familiar to a reader of the first critique (see the Architectonic of Pure Reason). This text will help us understand what dogmatic philosophy is as well as help get some more context about the particular details through which Kant is distinguishing himself.

Ever wanted another route into reading Leibniz? Now's your chance! Also, an excellent read to prepare for reading the Critique of Pure Reason in January!
