Read and discuss a Paper in The Urantia Book
Hello again Everyone. Usually the Study Group meets on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month, but in July this year the 1st Wednesday falls on the 4th of July, a national holiday. So instead of the 4th, the Study Group will meet on the 2nd Wednesday, which is July 11. I qlso need to move the usual 3rd Wednesday meeting to the 4th Wednesday, of the month (July 25). We will go back to our usual schedule in August. The first Wednesday this year is August 1st. To summarize, in July 2018 the Study Group will meet on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays (July 11 and July 25) not on July 4 nor on July 18. As usual, you will receive a reminder email two or three days before the Wednesday meetings.

What we're about

Although this meetup group on The Urantia Book was founded on June 8, 2015, the study group itself has been continuously hosted in San Diego for 40 years, the last 20 by the Organizer of the group.

The Urantia Book offers an intellectually satisfying cosmology that embraces the facts of science (including evolution) together with the values of personal spiritual experience.

Presenting itself as the Fifth Epochal Revelation to our world, The 2097-page Urantia Book was quietly first published in Chicago in 1955. The 17-page Forward begins with the sentence "In the minds of the mortals of Urantia --- that being the name of your world --- there exists great confusion respecting the meaning of such terms as God, divinity and deity."

In four Parts the Book presents The Central and Superuniverses, The Local Universe, The History of Urantia, and The Life and Teachings of Jesus.

The authors of the 196 individual Papers of the Book are listed as superhuman beings of various types. However, the Book itself says that a certain man, whose identify was never revealed, acted as a unconcerned (while asleep) contact personality.

Whatever its origin, The Urantia Book has demonstrated superhuman knowledge by predicting scientific discoveries made in the subsequent 60 years. For just one example among 50, the Book explicitly predicted that with larger telescopes astronomers would soon see hundreds of millions of star systems in far outer space with large voids between the clusters. Astronomers were surprised when the Hubble telescope revealed them in the 1990’s.

In a comfortable living room setting with refreshments, the Group meets, reads and discusses topics in the Book.
