“Happiness,” an elderly professor of philosophy once told our class, “is what you want for your kids, for yourself you want something more.” It seemed truer back then. Nowadays I lean towards happiness—even if my powers of pursuit ain’t the same. Or does that matter? And in our maturity what kind of happiness do we seek? Do we have?
