Mad Ken's Humpday Hike -- Portrero road/ Island Vista...OAB

Details

Moving on to 5:30 hike starts through the summer, this is one of my favorite shorter hikes, so let's take a little roller coaster hiking trip to enjoy the Island views from the Angel Vista picnic area. This hike starts just a half mile up the road from the Boney trailhead going toward hidden valley. The Park ranger closes the gate at 4pm, so please park across the street along side of Portrero rd.

A nice moderately strenuous 5 1/2 mile OAB with an elevation gain/loss of 1000 ft. and open space views of the Conejo Valley, Hidden Valley, and the Pacific Ocean/ Channel Islands. We will stop at the Angel Vista rest stop/ picnic area to enjoy the views, take in a snack before heading back to the parking area.

Essentials:

Please wear – brush-resistant pants/shorts , one or more wicking shirts appropriate to the temperature, comfortable hiking shoes or light boots, your favorite undergarments and accessories, and a light backpack.

Please bring – at least two liters of water, snacks, an extra layer of clothing, a charged cell phone, identification, a headlamp, a small first-aid kit, bug repellant and sunscreen, a waterproof shell if rain is forecast, and any medications or anything else you might need on the trail.

Parking:

Free off-street parking is available on Potrero Road thru gate on left side of road.

Please do not leave anything of value in your car, at this or any other trailhead.
