Space Mountain is the name for Los Robles Trail West, starting at Moorpark Road in Thousand Oaks and switchbacking up the hill to the west. No one seems to know why it's called Space Mountain, though maybe the Disney ride inspired it. Maybe former major league pitcher Bill "Spaceman" Lee had something to do with it. Maybe it's the final frontier. Come out and throw your equally ludicrous guess into the ring.
We'll hike up to Angel Vista for the views and a short break before turning around to hike back down, because the reverse would be impossible, given the constraints of gravity and our starting point.
We will hike about 7 miles with about 1200' of gain.
Dogs are not allowed on any morning hike.
Directions: From the 101 in Thousand Oaks, turn south on Moorpark Road. Drive 0.5 miles to Greenmeadow Ave. Make a right on Greenmeadow Ave and drive to the end. We will meet in the parking lot.
Note: Some of our hikes meet at the corner of Moorpark and Greenmeadow but not today's hike. We are meeting at the end of Greenmeadow Ave. You can't get to the parking lot from Lynn Road. Only access is from Moorpark Road
