Welcome Trailblazers!. With all this rainfall we've received, it's a good time to explore all the waterfalls in the Wildwood park area.

Plan on 6-7 miles of moderately strenuous hiking with 1500 +/- feet of elevation gain.

Wildwood Park is rich in historic and archaeological resources, unusual geological formations, and is home to a wide range of plant and animal life. The Chumash lived here for nearly 8,000 years until the early 19th Century. During the Spanish colonization of California, the land became part of "Rancho El Conejo" in 1803. Catttle and sheep grazed on these rich grasslands through much of the 20th Century. From the 1930's through the 1960's numerous Hollywood movies were filmed here, including "Spartacus" and "Wuthering Heights", as well as TV Series "Wagon Train", "The Rifleman", and "Gunsmoke.

This time around we'll take a tour of the Indian cave trail and hit the waterfall many folks don't even know exist. From there we will head over the creek and do some hill climbing on the lynnmere trail to a viewpoint where a quick break will let us enjoy the views before we head back down into wildwood park to view Paradise Falls. Depending on the time from hear we can head out to Lizard rock for our last view before heading back to the parking lot..Hope you can join me on this little local adventure.
