Zürich Fun Outstation: Zürich Beerathlon

  • Dec 8, 2012 · 10:00 AM

Registered Teams:

Hash House Hobblers (Carrie + Roswitha for Küpli run)

Thirsty Penn Hashers (Thirsty Thursday + Just Steve)

This is an annual event in Zürich and it seems to what Hashers do best: drinking beer and running.

Running with a whole lot of like-minded people could be a great opportunity for the Zürich Hashers to tell those people that they can actually do this once a week and not only once a year.

To find out more, bribe a German speaking friend with a beer for his translation services and follow this link.:

In a nutshell, this is what the beerathlon is all about:

Two teams of two men run 6.75 km and have to finish 3 litres of beer between the start and the finish. It is up to them when they want to drink it.

Alternatively, teams of two girls run 2.7 km and have to finish a bottle of bubblies.

Spillage of alcohol in any way is not allowed and will be fined with Jägermeister shots.

How to participate:

find a teammate and using a name which includes "Hash House" register your team directly under:

Please inform the event host so we can publish your team name and show how many people are registered.

Anyone else who doesn't want to run is welcome to drink and cheer.

If you want, you can also wear a funny costume (red dress?) for the run.

Hurry up and register because places are limited.

Oh what what fun it was to slide and drink and look at all the funny costumes. I will be there again next year and so should all of you who missed it this year.
I only missed the second part due to the effects of downing most of the ice cold prosecco.

    Hi all,

    Here's the timetable for Saturday:
The cupli lauf which the hash house hobblers are likely to win starts at 2.15 and the beersthlon starts at 3.00pm. For the entrants check the closing time of registration. This is half an hour before the start of the race.
    The train station is Brunau!
    Good luck! OnOn

If you are toying with the idea of participating, then hurry up and sign yourself and your team mate up. If you haven't got one, ask around. I have heard a few people are interested but have no team mate. Registration deadline is the END OF THIS WEEK. Let's show these guys how well we can drink and run, erm, move forward along a trail.
