Little Jamaica is situated along Eglinton Avenue West, from Allen Road to Keele Street.

It has been recognized as a cultural jewel and has an important historical significance to Toronto, as a distinct cultural hub for African-Caribbean immigrants. It was considered the largest community outside of St. John's Ward for our African Canadian community in Toronto, and Canada.

Toronto City Council voted to designate the area as a "heritage conservation district understudy". This allows Toronto's planning department to preserve it under the Ontario Heritage Act, offering some protection from future development. With the ongoing Eglinton Crosstown construction project the neighbourhood has suffered greatly.
