What we're about

The Actors Place (TAP) is a gym for actors. We are not an acting class but more a place to practice your acting. Every session we have a variety of activities including:

--> Rehearsing and Performing scenes

--> Improv Games

--> Auditioning Techniques

Who Is TAP For?

TAP is open to all actors looking to practice their craft. If you are a beginner actor you are also welcome to attend, but please note that TAP is not a substitute for acting classes, but a compliment to them.

TAP is a welcoming and inclusive space. We are gender, BIPOC and LGTBQ+ inclusive.

If you aren’t sure where to begin your acting journey check out our video series and FAQ.

To join TAP one must:

• Be currently enrolled in acting classes.

• Have taken some acting classes in the recent past.

• Are already auditioning/working as an actor.

• Are a professional actor looking to practice your craft.

How Much Does It Cost?

We have three available options:

• Single Class Drop-in $22

• 10 Class Drop-in Card $120

All payments can be made online via our website: theactorsplace.org

What to Expect

Every TAP session is a mixture of both familiar and new elements. That’s because we love to challenge ourselves, by doing different exercises every session.

Generally our sessions begin with improvisation games, followed by lots of scene study and partner work, and plenty of opportunities to gain constructive feedback (both from fellow participants, as well as the workshop facilitator).

Sometimes, we work on things like audition techniques or voice work, at other times, we practice on-camera acting, which means you’re always learning something new!

What to Prepare

Although it is not mandatory to memorize the script, we feel it's better to come prepared. Not only does it make things more efficient, but it allows you to focus on both your scene partner, and the acting art form!

Feel free to bring your own material to work on. Or to explore the script database featured on our website ( http://theactorsplace.org/scripts )

TAP - Actors' Gym - ONLINE - with M.E. Lewis - Scene Study

Online event

CA$22.00

In this session, Lovely Humans, we will work on scenes with a focus on developing and deepening your connection to your scene partner and the material. I love it when performers honestly connect in a scene. Sometimes, I even manage to do it myself.

Please feel more than free to select a scene and find a partner in advance - and please let me know if you do!

If you don't have a scene or a partner before you arrive, fear not, oh Brave Thespians - I'll make sure to get you set up during the session.

This event will take place online via Zoom.

About M.E. Lewis (call him Mark):

Nature: Liverpool. Nurture: Vancouver. Free will: Toronto. Over the last twenty years, he has appeared in numerous films, television shows, plays, and commercials. He loves the honest interchange between performers in a scene. He eats dark chocolate, gulps tea, sips ale, and savours whiskey.
