I received my first SLR, a Minolta X700, when I was 13 and been in love with photography ever since. Being able to capture an image that communicates the beauty and emotion of a scene laid out before you is almost magical. I also enjoy the post-production just as much as the initial capture. Watching an image truly come to life is a great experience.
Seascapes are by far my passion but I also enjoy regular landscapes, night skies, portraits, and models on occasion. Though Charlottesville is not necessarily a mecca for it, surfing images are some of my favorite to create. The combination of an ocean, movement, timing, and a human element is best of all worlds.
I use Nikon D800 and D300S. I'm looking to get a couple of Go-Pros for the kayak and use my iPhone if nothing else is on hand at the time.
I'm still fairly new to Charlottesville (2-years) but haven't really had a chance to meet others nearby who enjoy photography. I was very in the Hamptons Picture This photography group before leaving VA Beach and still maintain contact with several of the members from there. Making new friends that share a similar interest nearby will be great.
Yes, I've led both workshops and trip events in the past and know the amount of planning and effort that goes into them. If I RSVP, I will attend.
