Lone Star Flute Circle Meeting at Chez Gatliff
Do you love the sound of Native American Flutes as much as we do? Then come check out the Lone Star Flute Circle! All playing levels are welcome, from barely beginning to beyond advanced. We make breakout sessions available as needed for beginning flute players or special flute playing topics. This month is our annual Holiday Potluck meeting. It's held at the home of Robert and Julia Gatliff, which has the nickname of "Flute Mecca." Please bring a holiday potluck dish to share with your fellow fluties. Robert and I will provide plates, silverware, non-alcoholic drinks and ham. You are welcome to BYOB. For the newer flute circle members who have never been to Flute Mecca, this is a great opportunity to try playing LOTS of Native Flutes made by dozens of different flute makers. Explore the flutes - take them off the rack and play them. See which flutes/flutemakers appeal to you best. See if you can play some bass flutes and cover the holes adequately, or play flutes that are tuned differently than the standard pentatonic minor scale. This meeting is for our Flute Circle members to have fun, actively enjoy the adventure of playing Native Flutes, and share a holiday meal with each other. This is our last meeting of 2018, since so many are out of town near Christmas. We will return to regular meetings in January, 2019. For those of you new to this Meetup, we typically meet on the third Saturday of every month, from 2:00 - 5:00 pm.
