When asked how an artist may best connect with her muse, Alice Walker said:
โEarth was meant for Joy. As an artist, connect with that Joy and you will forever be fed by it.โ

The Natural Muse Meetup is an opportunity for writers to connect with Earth's Joy and work with the muse of Nature in the company of other writers on a regular basis. We will meet in a variety of natural locations around Los Angeles in order to engage with the Natural Muse. The atmosphere is collaborative, supportive and creative. This is, above all, an opportunity to engage with the page, and to write, write, write. It is not a forum for editing, critiquing or offering unsolicited advice, but a safe and nurturing place to converse with your Natural Muse.

Brand Park is a 31-acre park in Glendale featuring hiking trails, a Japanese tea garden, and the Brand Library, a unique public library that focuses on visual arts and music. Built in 1904, it was inspired by the East Indian Pavilion built for the 1893 Columbian World Exposition held in Chicago.
What wonders will we discover to write about here?
Point your GPS to Brand Library & Art Center. Free parking. We will meet at the grassy area with benches behind the library where we write. See the photo below of the grassy hillside directly BEHIND the library building.
If you arrive late or just can't find us, call JP at[masked] to get the location.

Let's meet up for an actual conversation! After all the hours we've toiled away over our writing, it's time for some in-person FUN.
We will gather OUTDOORS (dress appropriately) at a member's home to get to know one another better, share some food & drink and have the opportunity to share some of our work (this is completely optional). This is also a fundraiser to cover the cost of the organizer fees ($98/six months).
Encouragement only, no critiques.
RSVP required. We will send you the event address via your Meetup Messages so be sure to check there for the location.
WHAT TO BRING:
- $5-$20 (pay what you can). No one turned away for lack of funds. Cash, Zelle, Venmo, PayPal accepted.
- Something to read (IF you care to read, 3-5 minutes max)
- Contributions of snacks and/or beverages (adult or otherwise) appreciated.
- Whatever you need to be comfortable outdoors in the evening

"There is simply no place else like Arlington Garden in Pasadena, or elsewhere in the San Gabriel Valley. Its Italian style olive allee, numerous succulent and cactus gardens, an Arroyo Seco like pathway flanked by sycamores leading to a vernal pool, orange grove laid out in grids like historical California orange groves, paths and benches set throughout plant communities, and its โsurprises around every corner,โ make Arlington Garden an indescribable Pasadena landmark which has to be visited if it is to be appreciated."
