ABOUT THE SAGE SISTERS

Self-Development Book Club ~ Workshops ~ Sage Socials ~ Membership Group ~ Mastermind

Sage: adj. inspiring, insightful | n. wise woman, guide | n. purifying herb

The Sage Sisters is a community of women* in Northern Virginia who have a thoughtful/positive approach to life and seek continual discovery, learning, and growth. We believe in opening our minds and hearts to discover more about ourselves and others; we want to learn concepts, ideas, tools, and techniques that will enhance our life experiences; and we subscribe to the idea that growth is a lifelong journey.

The Sage Sisters is a community that’s sacred, safe, and nurturing - a place to be yourself, share your own wisdom, learn from others, grow together, and become more of who you are meant to be.

The Self-Development Book Club is open to everyone and meets monthly to discuss a self-development book. Whether you've read the book or not, you are welcome to attend and participate in the discussion. The only requirement is a positive, thoughtful, and respectful mindset. Two options are given to provide a greater opportunity for everyone to attend - the 1st Thursday from 7:30-9:30pm at the Barnes & Noble Kitchen at One Loudoun in Ashburn and the 3rd Wednesday from 7:30-9:30pm on Zoom.

Monthly interactive Workshops introduce us to experts and approaches/tools for self-discovery, healing, self-care, and growth. Experts are carefully selected through an application process. They must have previously professionally taught the topic and provide practical take-away skills/knowledge you can easily apply to your life or continue to do on your own after the event. Workshops are offered either in-person in Sterling, or online via Zoom. In-person events are typically held on the 2nd Sunday of the month from 2-4pm, but are subject to space availability. Zoom workshops are typically held on the 2nd Tuesday from 7:30-9:30pm. Sage Sister Members attend Workshops for free; non-members are welcome to purchase general admission tickets.

Quarterly Sage Socials are open to all and are designed as unstructured events for more personal relationship building within The Sage Sister community. This is another great opportunity to come meet us for the first time.

The Membership Group provides the opportunity to deepen relationships both in-person at events and through a Members-only Facebook group. Members may attend the Workshops for free and are able to participate in Mastermind sessions. To learn more about membership, visit https://janetsage.com/become-a-member/ .

The monthly Mastermind is open to Members only. It enables each participant to actively focus on what is important to her - her own personal self-development activities and goals. It includes sharing, brainstorming, and optional accountability. Gain insight, valuable ideas, and resources; be inspired by a community of growth-oriented women; and share your own knowledge, experience, and wisdom to help others. It meets on the 4th Monday from 7-9pm in a private meeting space in Sterling and the 4th Wednesday from 7-9pm on Zoom.

Come check us out...join a Book Club discussion, a Workshop, or Sage Social. If you are drawn to The Sage Sisters, I’d love to welcome you into our community.

I look forward to meeting you soon!

Book notes are provided to those who attend the event. ** Ticket Link: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-sage-sisters-book-club-discussion-e-squared-pam-grout-tickets-128665240197 ABOUT THE BOOK (taken from Amazon.com) Don’t face reality. Create reality! E-Squared could best be described as a lab manual with simple experiments to prove once and for all that reality is malleable, that consciousness trumps matter, and that you shape your life with your mind. Rather than take it on faith, you are invited to conduct nine 48-hour experiments to prove there really is a positive, loving, totally hip force in the universe. Yes, you read that right. It says prove. The experiments, each of which can be conducted with absolutely no money and very little time expenditure, demonstrate that spiritual principles are as dependable as gravity, as consistent as Newton’s laws of motion. For years, you’ve been hoping and praying that spiritual principles are true. Now, you can know. ABOUT THE BOOK CLUB The Sage Sisters Book Club discusses a self-development book on the 1st Thursday and the 3rd Wednesday of each month. Two date options provide a greater opportunity for everyone to attend; choose the date that suits you best. The Book Club is open to everyone and is designed to help women* start and continue down a path of discovery, learning, and growth with other positive women. As a community, we find that continually exposing ourselves to new ideas and perspectives is a necessary component and the secret ingredient to growth and self-development. We encourage you to come with an open mind; read the books that you believe will help you discover, learn, and grow; and share your personal experiences in a safe and supportive space. The books are selected in a variety of ways and suggestions are always welcome. We have read and discussed concepts and practices around mindset, being our best selves, relationships, happiness, spirituality, our purpose, and achieving our goals. To see what we have read in the book club to date, visit https://janetsage.com/self-development-book-club/. Whether you’ve read the book each month or not, you are welcome to attend the discussion. By participating in the Book Club discussion, you agree that… We have each chosen to take time out of our full schedules to attend… • To discover new ideas and have “aha!” moments • To grow and contribute to the growth of others • To inspire and uplift, and walk away feeling inspired and uplifted Mindset is everything… • A positive and open mindset is a must • You are welcome to share your personal experiences, insights, and wisdom • Please ask thoughtful questions with a genuine desire to learn/understand Creating an environment of loving kindness and offering mutual respect is paramount… • Give equal time to all attendees who wish to share • Give your full attention to whomever is speaking • Remember that we are all on our own journeys and have unique beliefs, circumstances, and life experiences. Mindfulness Painting Experience: Creating Art from the Soul

** To be fully registered for this event, everyone must obtain a ticket on Eventbrite here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/mindfulness-painting-experience-creating-art-from-the-soul-tickets-128559375553 ** General Admission: $36 + Eventbrite Fee Sage Sisters Dues Paying Members: Free (About Membership: https://janetsage.com/about-the-sage-sisters/) -------------------------------------------------------- Mindfulness Painting is a unique meditative experience that gives you an opportunity to explore, discover, and create. It allows your soul to speak. The results are enlightening, freeing, empowering, and healing. The focus of the experience is on the journey and the creative process rather than the technique or the finished product. That means it doesn’t matter if you feel you are not an artist or have never picked up a paintbrush before. If you are an artist, it is an opportunity to find a different and deeper sense of creativity and freedom. As the facilitator, Jody will gently guide us through the process that will help us connect with our intuition. We will breathe and paint slowly and freely. If we get stuck, she will gently ask questions to help move us forward. At the end, we will be invited to share about our experience and our painting if we wish to do so. All that is needed is an openness to self-explore, curiosity, presence, and a few art supplies. You can use whatever supplies you have (even markers are fine if you don’t have paints), you can purchase items from her suggestion list (below), or you can order a starter kit from her website for $15 at https://mindfulnesspainting.com/product/starter-kit-paint-brush-set/. Note that your starter kit needs to be picked up in Reston or Ashburn (Virginia) – it cannot be mailed. About the Presenter: Jody Tompros is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and an Intuitive Artist. She found intuitive art during a difficult time in her life. She discovered that she was able to express her feelings through art, and that the process gave her much peace and comfort. She credits her unique ability to facilitate meditative painting experiences to the love and complexity of her family and the families she worked with for 25 years as a social worker. Jody founded Mindfulness Painting in 2016 and loves connecting with people and listening to their stories. Watch a video about mindfulness painting, meet Jody, and learn more at https://mindfulnesspainting.com/. Suggested Supplies: 1. Paper – Drawing Pad, 80 lb 18” x 24” 2. Paint – Crayola Premier Tempera, primary colors (A mixing chart to make additional colors will be provided with the pre-event instructions.) 3. Brushes – 3-4 synthetic brushes in a flat, round, and fine style 4. Household items – cups for water, paint, and holding supplies; plastic knife to mix colors; and plastic or paper plate to use as a palette. Jody’s Starter Kit includes: 1. Paper – 3-4 pieces of 80 lb 18”x24” paper 2. Paint – 6 small cups of Crayola Premier Tempera, primary colors 3. Brushes – 2-3 brushes
