SPEEC Play Reading Series: "M Butterfly" by David Henry Hwang

Join us for the fifth play reading of Theatre Makers' SPEEC Play Reading Series of plays with social, political, economic, and environmental change (SPEEC) themes.

We'll read online this time due to the pandemic:

• "M Butterfly" by David Henry Hwang tells the story of a member of the French embassy in China who falls in love with a Chinese opera star. Based on the relationship between the real-life French diplomat Bernard Boursicot and Shi Pei Pu, a Peking opera singer (pictured above).

We will read this play in honor of Asian-Pacific American Heritage month!
