MORNING, NOON, AND NIGHT at Shattered Globe Theatre
Theater Wit, 1229 West Belmont Avenue, Chicago, IL, USMORNING, NOON, AND NIGHT
by Kirsten Greenidge
Directed by Amber Montgomery
https://www.sgtheatre.org/season-35/morning-noon-nightRaising a teenager is hard. And for Mia and Dailyn it’s not going smoothly. As they get ready for older sister Alex to come home, an unsettling visitor steps out of the algorithm, their plans glitch into chaos.
From Obie Award–winning playwright Kirsten Greenidge comes Morning, Noon, and Night, a darkly funny, mind-bending exploration of family, surveillance, and connection in a post-pandemic world. Reality blurs in this sharp and stirring drama about how the “new normal” is pretty weird.
This production runs at about 95 minutes without an intermission

THE BRIEF WONDROUS LIFE OF OSCAR WAO at Goodman Theatre in the Owen
Goodman Theatre, 170 N Dearborn St, Chicago, IL, USTHE BRIEF WONDROUS LIFE OF OSCAR WAO
by Marco Antonio Rodriguez
Adapted from the novel by Junot Díaz
Directed by Wendy Mateo
https://www.goodmantheatre.org/show/the-brief-wondrous-life-of-oscar-wao/“I have heard from a reliable source that no Dominican male has ever died a virgin. I shall be the first.”
Oscar knows that a nerdy Dominican college freshman isn’t anyone’s idea of a romantic hero. But with the encouragement of Yunior, his new roommate, he is determined to give love another chance. As Oscar sets out from New Jersey to Santo Domingo to prove his undeniable hope, can he shake the dark “fukú” that has haunted his family for generations? Junot Díaz’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel comes to vivid life in this world-premiere stage adaptation—a celebration of risk and the power of perseverance against all odds.
